Shutters for Bathroom Windows

Picking window coverings for a bathroom isn’t as simple as it sounds. What works beautifully in a lounge rarely survives the steam, splashes and humidity of daily use. That’s why we’ve curated a range of water-resistant shutters, purpose-built to handle it all while keeping their shape, finish and style intact.

Why Choose our Waterproof Plantation Shutters?

Moisture is the culprit behind many tired-looking interiors. While timber and fabric blinds may look the part at first, constant exposure to humidity soon causes them to warp, swell or fade. Our waterproof plantation shutters are built to stop that cycle altogether.

Crafted from durable PVC and advanced moisture-resistant composite materials, every component is engineered to resist water absorption, so you can enjoy years of use without peeling paint, softening wood or discolouration.

Why homeowners choose our water-resistant shutters:

  • Fully water-resistant materials that prevent water absorption
  • Resistant to mould, mildew and staining
  • Effortless cleaning with just a quick wipe
  • Available in a range of colours and styles to suit your décor

Perfect for bathrooms, ensuites, laundries and kitchens, these shutters provide a neat, contemporary finish that performs just as well as it looks. They offer long-term value and effortless upkeep, giving you one less thing to worry about in the most high-maintenance rooms of your home.

Noticing the Signs It’s Time to Upgrade

If your current window coverings are looking a little worse for wear, it might be time to make the switch to something more reliable. Moisture damage builds gradually, but the signs are easy to spot once you know what to look for. You may need an upgrade if you notice:
  • Wooden blinds that are warping, cracking or swelling
  • Discolouration or flaking on painted finishes
  • Mould, mildew or musty smells around window frames
  • Curtains or fabrics that cling, sag or trap moisture
  • Difficulty keeping your bathroom looking fresh and tidy
Replacing worn-out blinds with water-resistant shutters for bathroom areas is a long-term investment in both style and durability. You’ll get a sleek, made-to-measure finish that handles moisture effortlessly while maintaining privacy and light control.

Waterproof Shutter FAQs

While plenty of people (including us) use these terms interchangeably, they’re not quite the same. Waterproof means a material can handle full exposure or submersion in water without damage. Water-resistant means it can handle water, steam, and humidity, but shouldn’t be constantly soaked. The shutters at Total Look Blinds are technically water-resistant, which is more than enough for kitchens, bathrooms, and other damp areas, as long as you’re not giving them a daily shower.

Our most popular waterproof shutters are made out of thermalite, which is a dense, synthetic polymer foam. They have the appearance and texture of wood without any of the moisture-related downsides.

Not at all! While bathrooms are by far their most popular use, plenty of customers order them for kitchens, laundry rooms and other high-humidity areas. Some even choose them for non-humid areas like bedrooms, purely because they like the aesthetic.
These shutters are one of the lowest-maintenance options we stock, meaning there’s very little maintenance involved. Regardless, we provide a care, maintenance and guarantee pamphlet with every set of shutters so you can feel confident in their longevity.

At the end of the day, the choice is yours. If you prefer one of our other window treatments, you’re welcome to explore that. Just keep in mind that even if your window isn’t in direct contact with water, it’s still exposed to steam every time you run a hot shower. For that reason, we generally recommend water-resistant options for most bathrooms, no matter where the window sits in the room.
